Learn how to manage ADHD, and discover the secret genius that drives risk-takers, entrepreneurs, artists and ADHD-ers to achieve greatness. Shane K. Perrault, Ph.D., Today’s ADHD Expert, Yesterday’s LD Client. Hi! I am Shane Perrault, founder of ADHD Performance Counseling.
Over the last 15 years, it has been my good fortune to roll up my sleeves and get "in the trenches" with many gifted children, adolescents, and parents to discover their child's secret genius. My personal experience with ADHD fuels my desire to serve clients with ADHD. During graduate school, I discovered I had ADHD. After an assessment, I set about the difficult task of learning how to tap in to my strengths and leverage them to overcome my limitations.
Graduating with honors, I became my first client.
ADHD Performance Counseling was founded because after the diagnosis is made you are frequently left to struggle alone to put the pieces together. While there are a lot of ADHD and LD testing and assessment centers out there, to help you successfully manage your attention challenges and develop focus, we have partnered with Play Attention™ (the #1 computer-based program for children and adults with attention problems). We also have a community partnership with Kaplan to help children with dyslexia learn how to read.
To help your child become successful, we take a giftedness, "strength-based" approach to assessing and coaching clients with ADHD. This approach was developed through my educational experiences at the Johns Hopkins Medical Center, the Baltimore VA Medical Center and the Ohio State University. Several important certifications I hold have also influenced my approach, including Play Attention ™, Brain Gym ™, and Hypnotism and NLP training.
I am excited about partnering with you to put the pieces together and help your child turn a "deficit" into a Benefit!
To Your Success,
Shane Perrault, PhD
Kim Jones-Fearing, M.D., Licensed Psychiatrist
I have been practicing Psychiatry for over 15 years. My treatment philosophy is that emotional problems should not stand in the way of living a rich, fulfilling life. I know the decision to seek help is a difficult one, but the good news is the vast majority of people can be helped with psychotherapy (counseling) and /or medication.
Experience / Training / Focus
I completed medical school at Howard University and did my training at Georgetown University in Washington D.C.
Graciella Drew, M.A. Ed, Special Educator, Play Attention™ Coordinator
I am a teacher at a nonpublic special education school serving students with Emotional and Behavioral Disorders (EBD) and/or Learning Disabilities (LD). I have been working in the field of education for over 15 years. I adhere to the philosophy that it is an educator’s duty to help build a child’s self-esteem…one success at a time. After all, a successful child learns to believe in him/herself, and a child who believes in him/herself can face and overcome any challenge.
My experience in the field of education includes working as a preschool teacher, a child development specialist, a dependent care consultant, and a special education teacher. These positions have afforded me the opportunity to educate and evaluate children, as well as to inform, support and encourage parents.
Since Spring of 2005, I have been working as a Special Educator. While the diagnoses of my students are many and varied, by far the most prevalent is that of ADD/ADHD. I am charged with the task of providing multisensory instruction so as to meet the individual needs of the students. I develop student IEP goals and objectives and monitor and document their progress. I also attend IEP meetings as an advocate for my students, offering support and encouragement to them and their families. All of this experience has made me acutely sensitive to the needs of children in the special education community, as well as excited about the possibility of supporting them in creating positive change in their lives.
I received my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from James Madison University and my Master’s degree in Education and Human Development from George Washington University.
